Govt Invites Applications for New Sebi Chief; Offers Monthly Pay of Rs 5.6 Lakh
The Finance Ministry has invited applications to fill the position of Chairperson for capital markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The development comes after incumbent Sebi chief Madhabi Puri Buch’s tenure came to an end on February 28.
The government job advertisement in a newspaper said, “The appointment shall be made for a maximum period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or till attaining the age of 65 years of the appointee, whichever is earlier.”
Sebi chief will have an option to receive a pay equivalent to a Secretary to the Government of India or a consolidated salary of ₹5,62,500 per month without house and car. Candidates are required to send their applications by February 17.
Madhabi Puri Buch was appointed in March 2022 for a period of three years. Her term came under intense scrutiny due to reports showing a conflict of interest in a case involving the Adani Group. However, Buch has refuted all the allegations.
